YAY!!!

Let me start by saying I got my job!! Whoo hoo! It's not the one I applied for exactly because the big wigs in the state decided that slot didn't need to be filled as badly as the one they gave me. It's a long story that I won't explain. Anyhow, I am now the training NCO of the unit that I already drill with. This means I get promoted and I get out of Counterdrug. It sure will be nice to make that extra money and get my rank FINALLY. The next week or 2 will be spent training my temporary replacement. Not sure how that will go since it takes time to get a hang of some of the stuff I did there, but we'll see how it goes. I've been doing this same job since 2002 so I don't think training someone else will be a really easy feat. I'm just glad it won't be my responsibility anymore. Now my supervisor who said I didn't do enough to earn my promotion will see how much I really did when I leave. My Air Guard co-worker thinks Counterdrug will go under as far as the office is concerned.
In Dominik news, he did something brand new during dinner. He went from his tummy to sitting up straight on his butt. It's the first time he's done it and it came out of nowhere. I was suprised by this so I put him back on his tummy and he sat up again. What a little show-off. haha He's been doing it all evening now that he's figured it out. He still refuses to crawl up on his knees though so not sure that will ever happen or if he'll just skip it. He seems perfectly happy low crawling everywhere so only time will tell.
Well, Happy Halloween everyone!

WAITING!

I had my job interview on Monday and I feel pretty good about it. They said it could take up to 10 days for them to notify everyone with the results, but it usually doesn't take that long. I'm on day 3 and not knowing is killing me. I just want to get this whole thing over with so I can quit thinking about it. Hope for the best everyone!!! One good thing is the State Sergeant Major has been telling people that I answered the questions well and am more knowledgeable than most of the other people that were interviewed. This is crazy because everyone else is higher ranking than me. I'm happy to know I'm somewhat smart. haha
I got some good news today though. I think you all remember my pay issues and how the government took back that money before taxes which was $450 I never received. Well, I put in for a loan through the family support group out here at work since my paycheck was going to be $1083.00 short thanks to them taking back all that money at once. This was going to be better than going through my bank because I wouldn't have to pay interest on the loan. Well, a bunch of big wigs looked at my application and once they saw the reason for it they just gave me a grant for that money so I don't have to pay anything back. It's awesome!!! I'm happy it worked out since that whole fiasco wasn't my fault at all. I can now pay the bills and buy food for the month.
What else.... Dominik is still doing great. He spends the days REFUSING to take naps which results in him going to bed at 6:15 in the evening. Today Juan tried getting him to take a nap twice and he either screams until you get him out or he pulls down his crib bumper and peeks out of it waiting for someone to come by and get him. I don't know how he makes it through the day without naps, it's crazy. He would rather just play on the floor all day long with his toys. He sleeps well at night which is nice, but I don't get to spend much time with him during the week due to his early bedtime. Hopefully this nap refusal won't last long. Well, I guess I will try and get up the motivation to go for a run before I head home for the day.

First Haircut

Dominik finally got his first haircut a couple of days ago. He can finally see!! Here is a before and after shot so you can see the difference. Now hopefully no one will mistake him for a girl unless they're complete idiots. He sat on my lap in the barber chair and had a good time looking at himself in the big mirror. He didn't get the slightest bit fussy until the very end.
As for me, my interview for that job is tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath that I'll get the position but hopefully I'll at least do well in the interview. I guess miracles do happen sometimes right??
Juan is still limping around the house and he has a huge black bruise from his groin halfway down his thigh. It's pretty cool and I would post a pic except for the fact that it's in a "private" area. You'll just have to take my word for it.
I guess my week was pretty uneventful so I'll sign off for now.

Handicapped Husband

This time the blog is about Juan. He had a hockey game last night at 9:00 p.m. That's usually when I go to bed and Dom was already in bed, so I didn't go. At 10 p.m. I am awoken to Juan hoovering over me with the look of pain seared in his face. Turns out he tore his groin while playing hockey and was in so much pain he barely made it up the stairs into the apt. There was some swelling in the area and he wanted to scream even if you touched it. I sent him to the ER since I had suspected the tear. They gave him an icepack and some strong meds to ease his pain. He has been limping around the apt today still in quite a bit of pain and it will take 4-6 weeks for him to recover. Luckily, I had already taken off the rest of this week so since it happened, it happened at a good time. Now I'm just here taking care of both my boys, whom are taking naps right now. Lucky!!! Hopefully Juan will be a quick healer so he can get back to his career in hockey.

Dominik is still trying to crawl and is so close we can taste it. It also seems that he is getting more than his 4 teeth as he is getting fussy again. As far as I go, I'm just enjoying my time off. I have an interview on Monday for that job I want, but not so sure I will get it now. My First Sergeant applied for the job and he has been around doing this sort of thing for years. He is willing to take a demotion (which he would have to do because he has too much rank) in order to get the job. I guess it pays more than his current job. The only thing I really have going for me now is my age. They usually like to get younger people in these jobs and they are able to stick around longer before retirement comes up. We'll see how it goes but I have a feeling I will be stuck in the Counterdrug black hole without a promotion forever. Hopefully they will prove me wrong

Splish, Splash....

Dominik had his first sink bath last night. I decided he was finally too big for that little tub of his. He was probably too big for it a month ago so who knows why I kept using it. When I first put him into the water, he cried because he didn't know what was going on. Once he figured out it was a bath he had a good time. He spent most of the time looking down trying to grab his little boy parts, but he started smiling once we broke out the camera. He sat up all on his own which he has been doing for quite some time so like I said, I probably should have thought of this awhile ago. I will now officially retire the little blue "baby" tub.
As far as I go, I finally won a prize from a local radio station. Everyday they have a word of the day and if you're caller 6 once they say that word, you win a prize. I had gotten through before, but I was the wrong caller. Well, on this particular day I was caller 3 and then seconds later, caller 6!!! My speed dial at work is lightening fast so that's my secret weapon for future contests. I'm not supposed to be participating in contests at work, but I don't care anymore. So after all this blabbing, I'm sure you all want to know what it is I won. Well..... I won 2 tix to this HUGE outdoor haunted world and a free large pizza and sodas from Idaho Pizza Co. They have some of the best pizza around Boise so I'm excited.
Mmmm.... I guess that's all my big news for now.
