Dominik and Diet Update

First off, here's the pictures of Dominik and his friend Brendan that I managed to get before my memory card said it was full. He has another play date tomorrow since the Redwings play so hopefully he will develop some good social skills and work on sharing his toys. What a stingy guy. =0) He's at grandma's house again this weekend since we had hockey tix. He just won't sit still anymore so it's not any fun taking him to a game where I barely fit in the aisles and seats. Also, can you believe my little man will be one in just a week. It's crazy how quickly the time passes. He is going to have a small birthday party with the local folk and I will get some good action of him since he will get his first piece of cake. It should be a good time even though he won't know what's going on.
Now for my diet update. I began my Medifast diet yesterday and it may be a little harder than I thought, but I can do anything for only 4 weeks right?? Here's what I've tried so far....

Oatmeals-odd texture w/chunks. Doesn't mix too well.

Shakes- Not too bad as far as taste. A bit chalky in the texture dept.

Cream of Broccoli Shoup-The worst soup I have ever had in my life. No real flavor, no chunks of real food, just hot, soupy based water.I'm hoping the other flavors are better.

Snack Bars-Pretty decent and really similar to the different ones you can buy at the store like the power bars. Can't I just eat these all day?

Pudding-Has a pretty good flavor to it, once again, odd texture.

Ok, so the above items and then a lean portion of meet with green veggies for dinner is what I will be living on for the next month. I know I will lose a few pounds but I have to keep it off. I figure that once I transition back I will use fresh fruit or raw almonds for my snacks, weight control oatmeal or low carb yogurt with fruit for breakfast, salad with chicken or fish and veggies for lunch and then my normal kind of dinner except with a wheat roll or something added. If eating that healthy doesn't keep the weight off, then nothing will. Also, me being able o start running again in a week after 3 months of not running should help immensly. I am also going to start weightlifting a few times a week and I know that will make a difference.

Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day and now, Happy Sunday.

New Plan

After a week of thinking about it, I have decided to try a new way to lose weight. One of my co-workers has been doing the Medifast plan for a few weeks now and she has already lost over 20 lbs. It's a low fat, low carb diet that includes shakes, oatmeals, soups, puddings, and energy bars. Basically, you have 6 of these various items a day and then for dinner you have a lean meat with either a salad or green veggies like spinach. After you lose what you want, you slowly transition dairy, grains, fruits etc back into your diet so you metabolism remains stable. I'm confident that I should be able to lose a few pounds on this because Leah and I have the same body type/build so if she can do it, I should be able to. I also work out at least 3 days a week so that should really help. The food was a bit pricey, but I am dong the 4 week program to give it a try. I think I will like it as I hate cooking and I won't have to buy much at the grocery store. If anyone else is interested in this you can get info at www.medifast1.com. They have seperate programs for men, women, and even diabetics. Anyhow, I'll let you know how it works out for me. 15 lbs weight loss would make me very happy. I went about a week or so without eating my snacks between meals and I gained 5 lbs!!! CAn you believe that crap. I guess it really slowed down my metabolism back so now I"m eating snacks again. I'm the most I have ever weighed while not pregnant. It's pretty depressing, especially since I have been working out and eating well the majority of the time. I don't know what the deal is.
As far as Dominik's playdate on Superbowl Sunday went, he had a good time over all. The 2 boys crawled around and played with a ball together. Dominik is already in his selfish stage though since he hasn't been around other kids. Anytime the other baby would play with his stuff, Dom would go over and take it away from him. It was kind of funny but I want him to learn how to share so when he's a bit older I will have to teach him about all that stuff. I got a couple pics of them that I will post later. Guess my lunch break is over so tata for now.

Superbowl Sunday Has Arrived

Well tomorrow is Superbowl Sunday, but I don't care much for football. Juan is a big fan so we invited a few friends over to watch the game and eat some goodies. I got some pumpkin tarts, jalapeno bites, cheese sticks, hot wings, and nacho stuff. I'm excited for Dominik because his little friend Brendan is coming over. He's about 3 months younger than Dom and since they both crawl all over the place, I think they will have fun together.
Speaking of Dominik, he thinks it's fun to throw things all over the floor as you can see in these pics. He also is getting to be quite a pro at the old sippy cup although he still likes his bottle for milk. The poor guy was having trouble going poo as he hadn't done it in 5 days even though he's tried a bunch of times. E ended up giving him a suppository and 20 minutes later his tummy was clear. Poor guy having to go through all that.
That's pretty much all my excitement for now, not much I know.
